Vermont doesn't have many times of year when the landscape is, well let's face it, kinda ugly. But we are in one of them now. Up here we call it "stick season," which is the period after foliage and before the snow comes. Everything is brown, sunshine is rare, and drizzle is common. But sometimes the foggy grey clouds and brown tones have a melancholy beauty of their own, if you look hard enough.
